There will be stopping points at the tops of hills, at gates and road junctions, to regroup.  Routes for the next few weeks are:

  • 9th Jan – Route – Watery Lane, Tythings, Bradfords Lane, Boulsdon Lane, concrete path to Moat farm.Right turn onto the path to Kents Green, then at the gatehouse, do a U turn and head back the way we came. Culver Street, Foley Road, Onslow Road, Gloucester Street, through the town, Watery Lane, then back to the school.  Please see Facebook for a more in depth explanation!
  • 16th Jan – Route 6 (Based on Newent nine)
  • 23rd Jan – Route 1 (off road, stallion hill, in reverse)
  • 30th Jan – Route 3 (the long one, 8 miles)
  • 6th Feb – The first shuffle for to the 5-10k group homework

The sessions for the 5-10k group are where I will appreciate help from other LIRF’s and previous 0-5k mentors, probably more than on a Wednesday evening.

Tuesday Trotters

Meet at 18:30 in the car park behind Newent Health Centre/Library.  Hi-viz tops and head torches are a must for the winter season.  Everyone is welcome, this is an uncoached social session, usually led by Dave and/or Sally.

Training on Wednesday

Back on the Astroturf at Newent Community School, meeting at 18:10 for an 18:20 start.  Led by our Leaders in Running Fitness, £1 for members and £2 for non-members.  Please bring a drink and look on the Facebook group for any special runs/locations (road runs will require hi-viz and head torch).

From 1st February we will be running a 5-10k “intermediates” course on Wednesday nights – please see our Courses page for details.

Thirsty Thursdays

Meet at 18:30 in the car park behind Newent Health Centre/Library.  Hi-viz tops and head torches are a must for the winter season.  Everyone is welcome, this is an uncoached social session, with rumours of meeting in Cobbler’s for a drink afterwards…

Parkrun Saturdays

Please support your local parkrun and come to walk, jog, run, or volunteer to support our runners.  A free, timed 5k event starting at 9:00 am at Newent Community School, with cake and chat afterwards.  Volunteers are always needed and appreciated – please see the Newent Parkrun Facebook group.

Sunday Socials

2017 brings you two options for Sunday Socials – Classic or Trail!

Clive is back to lead the Classics!  Meeting every Sunday from 8th January, at 8:30 am at Newent lake for around 70 minutes of gentle jogging in a non coached session, routes often have options to do shorter distances if needed.   Everybody welcome. We will post runs for the first 3 months over the next week, and are planning for one run a month to go “on tour” to different places to keep it fresh – May hill, Robinswood, Cirencester etc. Details will be posted once we have them.

New for this year are Sunday Social Trail Runs, meeting at 8:30 am at Newent Community School.  Led by Chris, these will be social runs so a conversational pace – trail shoes, and drink are essential, there is likely to be mud!  Details of the runs will be posted on the Facebook group – Sunday 15th January will be a May Hill run, 8-9 miles on challenging terrain.

If you have any questions, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.  Please note that Wednesday is the only coached session. All other events are informal social runs (often led by a qualified leader, but not always) and, as such, you participate at your own risk.

Can anyone coming notify Clive on the group Facebook post please.

20th November:

It’s the Newent Nine! If anyone not already involved wants to turn out and cheer on our runners, I’m sure they’d really appreciate it. Jelly babies also appreciated too 😉

4th and 11th December:
